Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston, the oldest city in South Carolina, is known for it's polite and hospitable people. We agree!   Following are pics from our enjoyable day seeing the historic sites and eating the tasty southern food.

It is also known as "The Holy City" having many churches and cemeteries.
We loved the sign at this cemetery.

We enjoyed rooftop dinning at the Crab House with a cool breeze and view of the city. The crab cakes, oysters, shrimp, king crab and fried green tomatoes was the perfect fare for Charleston.

Our campsite on James Island was just a short drive across the bay from Charleston. This place was just how we'd picture the South to be with spanish moss hanging from the huge trees, peaceful lagoons, alligators and a slow pace to enjoy it all.
