We wrapped up 2013 with a fun week between Christmas and New Years visiting family and friends in Nor Cal. Our first stop was Oakdale, where Lorraine's sister, Sara, and hubby, Alan had recently moved into their beautiful new home. They had an exciting backyard project underway with 40 tons of boulders delivered and being perfectly placed by the landscaper. Looks like it's going to be gorgeous! Cowboy country is turning out to be a good fit for them but the main attraction is getting to spend time with their adorable grandson, Everett. Check him out riding his new Christmas present, a red tractor from Grandma and Grandpa.
It was so fun being with my sister and feasting on tasty meals prepared by chef Alan.
Thanks for the great time you two!
Leaving Oakdale we headed to the Bay Area to meet up with our long time friends, Greg and Lynne McVey. We spent the afternoon doing a walking/tasting tour in San Fransisco's Italian district. A perfect way to see the historic buildings, sample yummy local fare and get caught up on each others lives.
The next day the guys played an early round of golf at Half Moon Bay Golf Course. Gorgeous weather, lunch at the club house and then we said our good byes to the most hospitable tour guides in the bay area.
Love you guys! Thanks for a great time!
Driving south on the coast highway we arrived at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz where the waves were goin' off. Three local surfers, pictured below, jumped off the cliff and paddled out. Cowagunga!
Tom checks it out before making the commitment to paddle out.
Winter water temp was 55 degrees but the sunny day made it more inviting so Tom went for it!
Later, we settle in to our camp spot, right in Santa Cruz Harbor. Perfect place for enjoying 3 days of biking, walking, surfing and hangin' out together.
Happy New Year 2014

Moving on, the next day we camped at one of our favorite places, Morro Bay. When you look at these pictures you will see why we love it there so much.
Our last morning before heading home we enjoyed a beautiful stroll through the peaceful marshlands.
We are so thankful for the wonderful week and great start to the new year. Adios for now.
