Oklahoma is A-OK

The recent tornado tragedy in Oklahoma didn't dampen the welcoming attitude of the locals. We met many kind and hospitable people in our short stay here today. We spent an enjoyable and informative morning at the Cowboy Museum learning about our Western heritage.

We were thinking about trading in our RV for this Chuck Wagon,
but decided against it since we didn't have a horse.

Tom's getting a lesson on how the cowboys made their vintage Starbucks

This is "Howdy" a long horned steer with a droopy horn,
all saddled up and ready to ride.

Following are pics from the museum with fantastic art and many Remington bronze sculptures.

Tom waits in the saloon in the mock western town.

After an afternoon drive through Missouri we settled into camp by a river, a chapel and a varmint.

Southwest Smorgasbord

After a 4am start from San Clemente we quickly got to Arizona and stopped at the first Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on our list. Salsa Brava, in Flagstaff did not disappoint with melt in your mouth carnitas and smokey chicken nachos. Yum! Thanks Guy for the great tip!

Next stop, Winslow, Arizona, which the Eagles made famous with the well known lyrics, "Well, I was standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see..."  So we are doing what the song suggests and "Takin' it easy".

New Mexico truly stands up to its name, The Land of Enchantment

The happy campers start the day at Sophia's for an excellent breakfast of authentic homemade Mexican food in Albuquerque. We will have to come back in the future since we missed the Weekend special of Blue Corn Flour Pancakes with fruit and nuts. Maybe next time.

Hello Texas, with your open space, beautiful skies and country music for the driver, of course

We thank God for the safe journey, 1300 miles in 2 days, Hallelujah!
