Wet and Wild at Lake Powell

How wonderful to spend our last two nights with a view of  beautiful Lake Powell! We camped in our RV at Lake Powell Resort and RV Park and had the luxury of using all the resort's amenities. It was super relaxing to cool off in their pool after a day of being on the lake. You just have to stay in the water when the temp is a 100 plus!  We rented a jet ski and had fun zooming around the lake at high speed and then slowing down to explore small tight canyons with emerald green water. Next time we'll have to get two jet skis so we can race.

Oh, so sad it's over but super grateful to have had these special weeks to enjoy our sweet family,
our amazing country and each other. Thank you Lord for giving us such a safe and perfect trip.

Otter Creek and Kodachrome

We had no idea what was in store for us as we drove away from Moab. God gave us two great days to slow down and enjoy some of His beautiful creation. First stop Otter Creek Reservoir where we had an unexpected lakefront spot for the night. What a treat!

The sky turned into a magnificent display of black clouds with booming thunder but not a single drop of rain. Perfect!
Next stop, Kodachrome State Park, aptly named by National Geographic in 1947 because of the canyons multiple colors that change through out the day.

You never know what will turn up when you go for a hike in places like this.

The end of a beautiful day. Now it's time to get ready for a perfect night of star gazing.
The road out of Kodachrome held many unexpected sights.
This vintage gas pump had seen it's better days so no fill up for Blue Boy today.
Of course, no trip is complete without getting a pie to go.

Surfing the Colorado

Now for something completely different...let's try stand up paddle on the Colorado River, OK?  Rapids, currents, and eddys added some new challenges to our SUP experience but it turned out to be a blast. We really appreciated our expert guides Ryan and Jeff, who showed us the ropes and kept the group from being lost down river. The water temp was very freshing, a nice reprieve from the sweltering 100 degree air temp.

Exhillarated and exhausted from our fun day we then settled down to some excellent food at highly recommended Miguel's in Moab. Muy Bueno!!
Here are some cowboy photos from around our Archview Campground. Who is dat trying to catch a nap standing up?

Four-Wheelin' and Squealin'

These pictures don't do justice to the thrilling drive we had through Canyonlands National Park. We bumped and jostled over dusty, rocky, steep, gear grinding roads in the back country. It was so much fun with lots of hoot and hollerin' goin' on.  It was downright scary at times so we are very thankful that God protected us.
Yes, that is the edge of the road outside the drivers door!
                                                            Look out below!!!!
Look closely at the road down below,
we just drove up those narrow switchbacks.
And every driver needs a large fallen rock to squeeze under!

Our view from the top of Dead Horse Point and then back again to the canyon floor with the fading sunlight on the Colorado River. What a great day!
